These are the illustrations created for an article in Retina, a publication by El País. The article delves into the impact of COVID-19 on productivity during work hours. Our illustrations aim to visually convey the challenges faced by individuals amidst the pandemic, shedding light on the new realities of remote work.
In the first illustration, we present a portrait of a young woman whose face is obscured by a multitude of colorful Post-it notes. Each note represents the overwhelming schedules and tasks that have become a common occurrence during these trying times. This visual depiction is a poignant representation of the constant juggling act individuals face as they strive to maintain productivity in the face of unprecedented circumstances.
The second illustration captures the struggles of a young man attempting to reach his workspace. However, his progress is hindered by a massive ball symbolizing the COVID-19 pandemic. This ball, connected to his waist by a rope, acts as a visual metaphor for the challenges that impede individuals' ability to focus and engage fully in their work. It portrays the weight and constraints imposed by the pandemic on productivity and the daily routines of those affected.
Through these illustrations, we aim to capture the emotional toll and barriers individuals face while trying to navigate work during a global crisis. They serve as a visual narrative, inviting readers to reflect on the profound impact of the pandemic on their lives and work routines. The vibrant yet introspective visuals aim to evoke a sense of empathy and resonance, fostering a deeper understanding of the complexities experienced by many.
Together, let us acknowledge and address the unique obstacles this new reality presents, working towards solutions that promote well-being, resilience, and productivity in these unprecedented times.
